Life in the gutter has just got a little bit worse: the digital signal is off, and we are now listening to the football game on TV because there is no picture. And checking the tracklist in San Siro from forums.
Update to the update: signal back. Pheew.
21.21 Update to the update to the update: signal off. AGAIN. Grrr.
21.24 Update etc. Klose scores. Signal back. Missed a goal, but happy with the 2:1. Signal gone AGAIN.
21.35 Signal back, and we've managed to catch both the Turkish equaliser and a Lahm goal!
Meanwhile, I would be dead in San Siro with I'm on Fire and Racing in the Street one after the other...

well,so i am definitely the someone who's in the semi final's girlfriend's friend
That signal business was ridiculous last night. We even missed the streaker, which was most disappointing. :( (Was he a streaker? Maybe just a protester... whatever!)
'Twas a good match, though, no?
"I'm on Fire": I used to love the excellent version by The Guana Batz, but I was looking on YouTube just now and thinking... "Really?!?" I remember it a lot faster and more manic, kinda punky.

Uh, I don't know that version of I'm on Fire! I'm getting on youTube straightaway. (There you go, another day is looking like it will be wasted messing round the net...)
Good game, yes, especially with a nervous German in the room ;-) Glad Lahm scored, I really like him with his mono-brow. Hang on, there was a streaker??? I must've got distracted by following the Milano setlist thread on the Bruce forums... (Yes, that sad. No, no streakers there.)
Umbe - you're now that someone who previously was in the semifinals and now's in the final's girlfriend's friend! Or you are the artist formerly known as Umbe :)
Red - just checked out the Guana Batz 'I'm on Fire'. Pretty cool, but it's amazing that it sounds even more dated than the Bruce original! Do you remember the ridiculously naff video? Here's a Bat for Lashes effort, go here for Tori Amos' version, and here's my favourite by Big Country (WARNING: there be fiddle, ukulele and country-style, which I think you probably loathe). The Tori Amos cover is very good, but I have a feeling this is a song best sung by a man (goes without saying that the guy screaming along in the crowd is not the man I have in mind).
I Big Country! Che blast from the past! Mia sorella aveva (beh, suppongo che ancora abbia) The Crossing, and I used to really like it. How strange to see Stuart Adamson again...
I have developed quite the reputation as the country basher, haven't I? Haha, it's okay, I can live with it! Though, believe me, there is some country in my musical education. We'll discuss when we meet up, ti faccio tutta la mia parabola musicale!
PS: Vedo che ascolti l'ultimo dei Weezer. I LOVE Weezer, but I'm not 100% about the Red album yet. "Everybody Get Dangerous... Boo ya"? I don't think so! Maybe it will grow on me con piu' ascolti...

ooooooooooooopss
Hi Byron! Made my way here via Red's blog (specifically the post about your fantastic sounding MIRL). My condolences on Germany's loss to Spain yesterday.
muzzle: ooooops, but also olé (detto tra noi, forza Spagna!)
Hello Captain Karen and welcome. Thanks for that - the German in the household was devastated, but I have to say I was quite happy to see Spain triumph out of all the other teams. They were the best by far, and I have always felt a particular tie of kindred with our fellow Mediterranean Latinos ;-)
